Review: Edwardston Station Gallery

When I first came to Second Life, in October 2009, I didn’t really know what to think or what to do. I aimlessly wandered around for a while, exploring. I lived in different houses and connected with a few people. Then I created some things using Photoshop and built some stuff too. After a few months it had become clear to me that the main reason that I was here was because of creativity; not because I was particularly good at it, but because there was some great creative talent in Second Life. I established my first gallery on the top floor of a prefab Roman Mansion, showing the work of baker Bloch (I had found his gallery browsing Sasun Steinbeck’s Gallery Kiosk). Then I left that house and moved into a prefab Danish castle and set up my gallery in the right wing. Still showing baker Bloch. I was not the slightest familiar with the Second Life art community or with promoting gallery exhibitions at this time, that all came later. At some point, Nordan Art was built and I started showing other artists and gradually became more familiar with the Second Life art community. But back to baker Bloch, with whom I recently reconnected. He still shows his work in the gallery he had built back then, the Edwardston Station Gallery. The gallery exterior is a cube in the sky; a large pipe can be seen adorning part of it (one can walk through the pipe). The inside consists of many rooms and floors, each floor is devoted to a series of work. On the walls hang baker’s images; large, colorful mixed collages of sorts. Even though there seems to be several rooms that are not in use and perhaps under construction, I think the gallery is still open to the public, go and check it out: http://slurl.com/secondlife/Blackmount/153/138/232. Also, I am happy to report that baker Bloch will once again be showing his work in my gallery, starting February 4, 2012. Please be on the lookout for announcements.

Great article! Looking forward to exhibiting some of my collage pieces at Nordan Art for certain. There’s a story to that pipe you mention (the “Rabbit Hole”) but I’ll save it for another time. Thanks again.
Looking forward to showing your work at Nordan Art again bake!
What’s the story with the rabbit hole? Please tell.
Hey again,
A bit of the story is here, or at least my thoughts on the subject upon 1st discovering the hole — actually holes. Or maybe its just one hole split in two…

You remember Hucka Doobie the bee, don’t you?
Sub-category on the Blackmount Sink (link above is 1st Blackmount post), which also includes some about the forming of the Edwardston Sta. Gallery there.

Short story is that the Rabbit Hole of Blackmount, on the Jeogeot (Southern; Korean) continent *use* to have a seeming exact counterpart on the Maebaleia (Japanese) continent, found in the Ulyanovsk Oblast sim. These are the entrance and exit holes according to the formed story. The pipe in the gallery represents the Rabbit Hole itself as a, um, whole, connecting small exhibits concerning these 2 continents and the hole itself.
The Blackmount “side” of the hole is still there, and I can give the SLurl to those who are curious — it’s kind of on private property, though. The Ulyanovsk Oblast side began to narrow maybe 2 years ago and eventually winked out of existence. But you can still see its presence on old grid maps.
Aren’t you glad you asked!?
How could I forget Hucka Doobie the bee?!?! Thanks for this, Bake. Go and check out the rabbit hole, folks!
